Brooklawn Breaks Ground

Brooklawn Child & Family Services broke ground on three new cottages and a Horticulture Center on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 marking the dawn of a new day in Brooklawn's long history of helping children.

As if breaking ground on a $7 million Capital Campaign wasn't exciting enough, the day was marked by a surprise announcement from Kosair Charities that it was giving Brooklawn an additional $1 million to help build three new cottages and a horticulture center.

The cottages will not only allow Brooklawn to serve more children, but will include the state's first Psychiatric Treatment Facility for young girls.

With the latest gift from Kosair, Brooklawn has raised over $5 million towards its $7 million visionary goal, and the ground breaking marks the beginning of the public phase.
