Brooklawn celebrates Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is always special at Brooklawn since we are so blessed each year. With that in mind, the 2008 annual Thanksgiving dinner was a special night.

More than 360 friends, supporters, staff and, of course, the Brooklawn boys gathered for an evening of fellowship in the Brooklawn gymnasium. It was, by far, the largest gathering in Brooklawn's history.

Along with a wonderful meal prepared by Brooklawn's dietary staff (which included all the holiday staples), those in attendance were treated to a slide show of the past year and a musical performance by the boys.

 

 

Guests were treated to a few of the year's highlights from Vice President of Development Mike Schultz, including:

  • By year’s end, we will be celebrating the success of an $8 million dollar capital campaign - expand services, while building futures for more children, including young girls, ages 6 to 11.

  • This past year, a group of Brooklawn volunteers initiated a community-wide special event - The Louisville Concours d’Elegance - raising $80,000 for Brooklawn.
  • The fact that Brooklawn continues to produce excellent outcomes for our children.

Brooklawn would like to thank the employees of Yum!Brands for not only acting as servers of the evening meal, but also for serving lunch that afternoon - freeing up Brooklawn staff to prepare for 360 hungry mouths that night.

Brooklawn would also like to thank Mr. Jim Sandidge who, each year, provides all the turkeys for the event.
